Tap & Tapas fundraising event to be held on Monday, October 2^nd at SECOND. Groove With Me is a free dance school for 400 girls residing in East Harlem and the South Bronx. The mission is to engage with girls after school when 90% of youth violence occurs. Groove With Me builds self-confidence in an effort to prevent teen pregnancy, substance abuse, crime, truancy, relationship violence, and depression. Tap & Tapas is a walk-around tasting event featuring some of NYC’s best chefs, a live auction, and performances from Jason Samuels Smith, some of Groove With Me’s students, and an appearance by The Rockettes. Tap & Tapas attracts hundreds of guests each year and raises more than half of the organization’s yearly operating budget. This year chefs from Victor, Brine, La Chula, and the Blackfoot Group will be serving guests some of their most sought-after menu items. The event will honor Jess Sims – Fitness Professional, Educator, & Motivator. By attending this fundraiser, not only will you have an incredible night out, but you will also be supporting Groove With Me and their mission to empower young girls through dance. All proceeds from the event will go directly towards providing dance classes, mentorship, and a safe space for girls in underserved communities.
