Filé Gumbo Bar, the authentic Cajun/Creole restaurant in the heart of Tribeca, is celebrating National Gumbo Day October 12th in a big way. Diners can stop into the restaurant to savor the flavors of Louisiana with a Gumbo Giveaway and also enjoy a new dish to celebrate the day – Duck Confit and Andouille Sausage Gumbo.

On October 12th, for two hours only, 11:30 – 1:30 p.m.,  the first 20 visitors to Filé will enjoy a complimentary bowl of any gumbo. The giveaway is available on a first-come, first-served basis for walk-in customers only. No reservations will be taken. In addition, all gumbo on the menu will be offered for $20 all day long.

Born from the vibrant cultural tapestry of New Orleans, gumbo’s roots can be traced back to the 18th century when West African, French, Spanish, and Native American culinary influences merged to create this delectable masterpiece. Over the years, gumbo has evolved into a cherished symbol of communal gatherings and an embodiment of the region’s diverse heritage.
