Porcelana de Oro – Cristobal MarYan
Elgar Cello Concerto, Op. 85 – Hannah Holman, soloist
Symphony #4 in E Minor, Op. 98 – Johannes Brahms
The Yonkers Philharmonic opens its 2025-26 Season by celebrating the connection among the orchestra, patrons of the arts and audience; how they’re intertwined as a collective in bringing music to life. Life experience, for example, played a critical role in the musical development of Johannes Brahms, who only began composing his 4th symphony at age 52. Composer Cristobal MarYan, describes himself as an eclectic Mexican composer who writes contemporary classical music as well as music for films, television, theater, and video games. He is also an ex-diplomat who served as Head of Culture at the Mexican Embassy in China from 2022 to 2024. Finally, soloist Hannah Holman (Fanfare Magazine has described her playing as “the stuff that cello legends are made of.”) joins the orchestra for Elgar’s Cello Concerto – a lament to a lost world after WWI.
All concerts are FREE. Please visit our website, www.yonkersphilharmonic.com to stay updated on the latest news, special events and DONATE.
